Luthando is a sports fanatic. He was involved in both athletics and football at an early age growing up in Tsomo and Lady Frere, in the Eastern Cape.

Born and bred in the rural Tsomo, Luthando relied on radio mostly to follow sport as there were not too many tv's in his Village those days. The interest in sport changed and became even more when he joined his parents in Lady Frere. He got to watch more television; local football, Italian Football, Scottish Football and a little bit of Premier League. It was also that time he took interest in reading about the latest news in sports and playing the game.

In his Village he became the 'authority' of news due to all the reading he was doing in sports. He followed writers like Mark Gleeson and Thomas Kwanaite, reading a lot of their work.

In 2001 December he covered varsity tournaments for KICKOFF magazine and his first article was published in January, 2002. He did not look back, and in four years he was voted by his colleagues at KICKOFF as the best writer. His development and positive articles made him popular with the Teams and players alike.

He was probably at his peak in 2010, having an opportunity to work during the FIFA World Cup, as a Assistant Venue Media Officer, at Loftus Stadium.

Favourite Sporting Memory

He was part of the staff when Kaizer Chiefs won the league at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, 15 May 2013.

Biggest moment of your career?

I have to choose two; working for Kaizer Chiefs and being part of the Team that delivered the 2010 World Cup, as Venue Media Officer.

Funniest moment in Football?

In 2007 as a magazine writer I was a guest player for Kaizer Chiefs. It was during the Vodacom Challenge ahead of the game against Tottenham Hotspur in Durban. Here I was lining up with the likes of Dafou, King, Bartlett, Mooki, Keane, and all these stars signing autographs during an activation in Durban. I had trained with Kaizer Chiefs in the morning and really felt the part and none of the fans noticed I was not a footballer!

What is your favourite sports quote?

"It's not important what people think when you come in. It's much more important what people think when you leave".
