Seeing as Apex Bets has been around for just over a year now, I decided it was time to check in and see how it was doing. I tested this betting platform to see how the sportsbook and casino to see what was available.

Like at all South African online casinos, you will have to FICA your account, but at the end of the day, it does help to prevent fraud. Standard data protection policies and SSL encryption are in place.

Apex Bets Bonuses and Promotions

Apex Bets doesn’t have a lot of bonuses, but I did find the usual welcome offer and some deposit bonuses.

Does Apex Bets have a Welcome Bonus?

 Apex Bets Welcome Bonus

 Apex Bets Welcome Bonus

The welcome bonus is a 5 part offer worth up to R30,000. The minimum deposit is R50. This is how the bonus works with each deposit.

There are some important terms and conditions you need to know about. Firstly, the wagering conditions are higher than those of SA casinos. Turnover on casino games is 30x, and table games, crash games, and virtual games don’t count. For sports, it is 20x on bets with odds of 3.0 or higher.

Wins from bonus money are capped at R15,000.  The structure looks generous at first glance, but the high wagering and short 7-day window make this a bonus you’ll need to plan around.

Apex Bets Sports Markets, Odds & Live Betting

Apex Bets features popular sports and esports, with quite a lot of niche markets thrown into the mix. This Apex Bets Sportsbook Review breaks down markets, odds, and special features like boosted odds.

Betting Markets at Apex Bets – From Popular Leagues to Niche Sports

You can try your luck at more than 40 sports and esports markets. On top of soccer and cricket betting, I found some less common markets like sailing and rowing. League coverage certainly seems extensive, even including Varsity Cup rugby.

Popular sports enjoy more betting markets. Football betting has the most, and Asian Betting, Both teams to score, and a variety of outcome markets were on offer. Single, multiple, system, and chain betting are available, as are bet builders.

The Boosted Odds section didn’t have much to offer during the week, so weekends are the best time to look for them. Odds are in decimal format.

Apex Bets Sports Betting Odds – How Competitive are they?

Apex Bets Sports Betting Odds

Apex Bets Sports Betting Odds

Apex Bets performs best on major football and rugby markets, where pre-match odds are competitive with mid-tier South African bookmakers. Margins typically sit around 6.5%–8% for football and slightly higher for rugby, which is in line with local market trends.

I noticed slower line movement on big fixtures, which gave me some early value opportunities. Accumulator bets also benefit from slightly softer odds. Margin increases in live betting and esports, but value drops.

As a whole, it's better suited to pre-match betting than in-play betting.

Live Betting & Streaming – Real-time Action, Cashouts & Odds Updates

Live Betting & Streaming apex bets

Live Betting & Streaming apex bets

With South African casinos limited when it comes to live streaming, Apex Bets has a match tracker to help you keep track of the game. It’s functional rather than flashy, but it does the job for following key moments and momentum shifts.

I didn’t find an early cashout option or ACCA insurance, so once your bet is placed, you’re committed until the final whistle.

Betting Limits & High Apex Bets Wagering – What Are the Minimum & Maximum Bets

Betting Limits & High Apex Bets Wagering

Betting Limits & High Apex Bets Wagering

Betting starts off at R1, typical for South African betting sites. Apex Bets doesn’t have a fixed max bet. Instead, they set limits for markets or events. If you click on Max on your bet slip, the maximum bets and total return will be shown.

If you have a significant win, your payouts could be staggered because daily withdrawals are linked to your account level.

Is Apex Bets Sports Betting Worth It?

Apex Sports is a solid choice for casual bettors, especially if you are a football or rugby fan. Odds are competitive for pre-match markets, but the live betting is not as favourable when the margins increase.

A few key features are missing, like early cashout and ACCA insurance. Apex Bets is a reliable sportsbook with solid pre-match odds, but it lacks key features and isn’t the best choice for value-focused bettors.

Apex Bets Slots – Jackpot Games & Popular Picks

Jackpot Games & Popular Picks Apex bets

Jackpot Games & Popular Picks Apex bets

The selection of slots might not be the biggest, but with over 900 well-chosen titles, you will not have a hard time enjoying yourself. The slots lobby is broken down into smaller categories, so I didn’t have too much of a problem finding slots like:

  • Fruits & Sweets
  • Gems & Diamonds
  • Fishing & hunting
  • Horror & Scary
  • Buy Bonus

Progressive jackpot hunters are going to have to settle for fixed jackpot games like Pragmatic Play’s Jackpot Hunter.

Apex Bets Crash & Instant Games

Looking for a quick timeout? Head over to the Crash section and try out games like Big Bass Crash and Crazy Worm. The selection might be small, but the variety is decent.

Apex Bets Live Casino

Apex Bets Live Casino

Apex Bets Live Casino

Apex Bets’ live casino has a healthy collection of live table games and game shows. Blackjack takes up the biggest share of games – more than 70 are on offer. Table games like roulette, baccarat, and poker are other options.

It would be handy if there were a tab for game shows or a search bar, as they can be hard to spot. Some of the standout game shows are Crazy Balls and Monopoly Live.

Apex Bets Poker and Table Games

The RNG-based table games are mostly Evolution First Player titles, with some NetGaming and Pascal as well. While I wasn’t able to find any poker games, there are blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat. First-person Sic Bo and non-stop roulette are other options.

RTP & Payouts – Which Games Have the Best Returns?

Return to Player (RTP) measures how much a game will return to players over time. Online slots usually have an RTP between 94% and 96%.

There are some high RTP slots that run a little higher. A crash-style instant game like Aviator has an RTP of around 97%, while Blood Suckers is 98%.

Blackjack and baccarat are usually the live games with the highest returns, going up to 98% depending on how you play.

Apex Bets Casino Betting Limits – Are There High Roller Games?

You'll find different betting limits depending on the game. A crash-style game or instant game usually starts at R2, and a High Flyer goes as high as R4,000.

Apex Bets keeps its slot betting limits low. The smallest bets I found were R0.20, but the biggest ones were usually under R100.

In the live casino, you can play with the highest limits. There are some tables with bets up to R40,000, which should appeal to high-stakes players.

Is Apex Bets Casino Worth It?

Apex Bets’ casino is easy to get into and has more than enough variety for most players. I found the slots section particularly strong, with a good mix of familiar titles and newer releases, and the categories made it easy to find what I wanted.

The live casino is also solid, especially for blackjack, although finding game shows took a bit of digging. Betting limits are flexible, with low-entry slots and higher stakes available in live tables.

It’s not the place for progressive jackpots, but for everyday play, it does the job without overcomplicating things.

Apex Bets User Experience & Website Design

When I first started testing Apex Bets, it seemed like the menus were well thought out. But as I started digging deeper, a few problems arose. It took me a bit of time to figure out the sports section, mostly since pre-match bets can only be placed 72 hours before they start.

The sports section did load quickly, but the casino side of things was a bit slower. Personally, I would like to see an overhaul of the casino layout for the slots and live casino, as it can take a while to find what you are looking for.

The memory usage on the desktop isn’t too bad. The main page uses 528MB of memory. I like the dark theme, especially when playing for longer sessions.

Apex Bets Mobile Experience

Switching to my mobile improved the experience. There is no Apex Bets mobile app right now, but maybe we will see one in the future. It is a lot quicker on mobile.

There are still some navigation problems. The only menus are the ones at the bottom of the screen, but once I got used to the site, I was more comfortable with it.

Customer Support at Apex Bets

Customer Service
4.3/5

With a lack of an FAQ page, it is important that you know how to contact customer support. The live chat button is on all the pages, and this is usually your best bet.

I contacted them to check on something I had noticed in the terms and conditions. I was chatting to a member of the Apex Bets’ customer support team in less than 2 minutes.

Deposit & Withdrawal Methods at Apex Bets

Sportsboom Event Table Logo
Deposit & Withdrawal
4.1/5

Before depositing, I could see the limits for each payment method when I clicked on them. The number of options is smaller than you may be used to, but you will more than likely find one that suits you.

The only withdrawal methods are with an OTT Voucher or an EFT transfer. How much you can withdraw daily depends totally on your player level.

Newbies can draw R15,000 a day. As your level goes up, so does your withdrawal limit, until it reaches R90,000. Withdrawals can take anywhere between 24 and 72 hours.

Responsible Gambling at Apex Bets

Apex Bets has 2 options to help you keep your gambling habits in check. You can choose a Time Out for between 1 day and a month, or self-exclude. The self-exclusion can last up to 5 years.
Details for the National Gambling Program are in the footer.

Final Verdict – Is Apex Bets the Right Choice for You?

Considering that Apex Bets is relatively new to the South African online market, they can be forgiven for small details. The sportsbook is quite comprehensive, with a well-rounded lineup of sports and esports markets to choose from.

The same can be said of the casino. The lobby gives you plenty to choose from, and they have made sure that they have partnered with strong game providers. Some more bonuses would go down well, especially on the sports side of things.

In this case, I think that the positives outweigh the negatives. If you are on the lookout for a smaller casino, you should check out Apex Bets.
