AmaZulu aim to solidify their top-eight position at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Usuthu welcome a hurting Magesi side firmly tethered to relegation in the Betway Premiership. The Durban-based side has shown signs of consistency since co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusimuzi Vilakazi joined. Meanwhile, Magesi surprisingly picked up their first win since October. For the co-coaches, sticking to consistent performances is essential, and with all respect to Magesi, having the opportunity to bounce back after a cup exit is promising. AmaZulu FC Current Form – LWDWW

AmaZulu will welcome the home fixture, having won back-to-back fixtures since their heavy 5-0 defeat to Stellenbosch. The Usuthu co-coaches turned the tide on a poor run of form, picking up a 5-1 cup victory, wins over SuperSport and Marumo Gallants, and a 2-2 draw with Kaizer Chiefs, which by many accounts was a game they should have comfortably won.

AmaZulu made just two new signings in the January window. Bongani Zungu, one of those additions, has yet to make a significant impact since joining. However, he did score a goal against Magesi in their previous encounter to edge the win, 1-0. On loan from Orlando Pirates, Sandile Mthethwa has been making the most of his opportunities, scoring a hat-trick in the 5-1 win, and has yet to face defeat when starting.

Zwane and Vilakazi will be disappointed in their recent cup exit, failing to defeat the struggling Gallants, but can fully focus on their league performances for the remainder of the season.

Key Players to Watch

  • Sandile Mthethwa: Mthethwa has not had much opportunity to show his ability, but when put on the pitch, he has provided many positive moments. It is fair to say that he is still getting up to match fitness, and should he get minutes, he could be the difference.
  • Rowan Human: The 24-year-old is a staple on the Usuthu team sheet, featuring the most times, and since his recent switch to the left wing, Human picked up two goals and three assists in the last three games.
  • Riaan Hanamub: The left-back has the legs to go for 120 minutes flat, and most of the attacking play down the left comes through his efforts.

AmaZulu Team News

Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane have a fully fit squad, other than a possible knock to Rowan Human, but he should be fit to go for their clash after a week off.

Magesi FC Current Form – WLDLL

Magesi’s start to their first-ever top-flight campaign far exceeds what most would have expected. However, their recent form is what Betway Premiership fans would have expected. Zero wins out of 12 fixtures, scoring just five goals is torrid form.

Appointed in January, head coach Owen Da Gama had failed to get any results until last weekend’s 2-0 win over Cape Town City. Could this ignite the fire needed to keep the side afloat? Dikwena Tsa Meetse is four points off clearing the relegation zone, so you can expect them to have a go.

Key Players to Watch

  • Delano Abrahams: Since joining from the University of Pretoria, the 25-year-old right-back has proved his ability to provide a threat going forward, scoring two goals this season, but the cohesiveness in the back does not flatten his efforts going forward.
  • Lehlohonolo Mtshali: Joining this January, the midfielder played five games and scored one, already making an impact on a struggling side.
  • Wonderboy Makhubu: On loan from Sekhukhune United, the only forward with more than two goals, Wonderboy needs to find composure and add more goals to his name.

Magesi Team News

Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Darpoh returns after his three-match suspension. However, the more notable instance is that several players have been released from the club. With no confirmations yet, except for Limbikani Mzava, who opened up to the media to express his disappointment.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. AmaZulu FC, 4-2-3-1: R. Ofori; W. Jooste, R. Mphahlele, T. Fielies, R. Hanamub; B. Motshwari, B. Zungu; T. Moremi, H. Ekstein, R. Human; E. Kambindu.

  2. Magesi FC, 4-2-3-1: E. Chipezeze; D. Abrahams, M. Buthelezi, L. Mokone, J. M. Mokone; S. Darpoh, M. M. Matima; M. Vandala, L. Mtshali, D. Mekoa; W. Makhubu.

Suggested Bets

  1. Over 2.5 goals: AmaZulu have finally found their shooting boots, netting two goals in each of their last three fixtures. (9/10 with Hollywoodbets)

  2. AmaZulu Draw No Bet: An AmaZulu win is almost certain, but if you want to play it a little safer – considering Magesi have just secured their first win of the year – draw no bet is the smarter option. (12/10 with Betway)

Value Bets

  1. Only AmaZulu to Score (Yes):  Magesi have scored one goal in their last six away games. (14/10 with Hollywoodbets)

  2. AmaZulu to Score in Both Halves (Yes): In each of their last three games they have found the net on either side of each half. (2/1 with Betway)

Prediction: AmaZulu to win

Magesi may be fresh off a morale-boosting victory over Cape Town City, but that’s their first win in 11 games. AmaZulu are perfectly poised to take the victory having already won the previous encounter. Usuthu are finding their feet under the new co-coaches. Back the home side with confidence.
