Kaizer Chiefs Current Form – WDLWW
Kaizer Chiefs welcome the return to home soil, where they prove far better, losing just two of their last 10. Nasreddine Nabi’s side are seemingly turning the tide on an inconsistent run of form, picking up a 2-2 draw with AmaZulu, and a 1-0 away win over Stellenbosch in a six pointer for continental football. Before those two results, a 1-0 loss to rivals Orlando Pirates could have derailed their season, but the positive performance in the Soweto Derby bled over resulting in four points.
The January signings Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo have both found themselves on the scoresheet versus AmaZulu and Stellenbosch respectively, while Thabo Cele is happy to be back in South Africa following a stint in Russia featuring on the starting lineup for consecutive games. However, Cele does need to keep a lid on it, picking up yellow cards in back-to-back fixtures.
Kaizer Chiefs dominated the last encounter with SuperSport but fell asleep just before the end of the first, conceding a 44th-minute goal by their current acquisition Morris, funny enough.
The Glamour Boys can be confident here considering the form and table standings – fifth on 25 points, just four short of CAF soccer.

Key Players to Watch
- Tashreep Morris: Seemingly Kaizer Chiefs’ most promising signing of the window, so good that despite this being only his third game (should he start), he has a claim to be the most effective player in the team. He also faces his previous employers, and this could make for a memorable night.
- Makabi Lilepo: Man of the Match in the win over Stellenbosch, he also joined this January transfer window. The 27-year-old winger finishes like a striker!
- Thabo Cele: He does not over complicate things, which is what you want from your box-to-box midfielder. This is why he’s walked straight into the starting line-up under Tunisian head-coach Nabi.
Home Team News
Bongani Same (leg-injury) is expected back later this month, alongside Edson Castillo (broken fibula), who has been out since October. There are no suspended players, but both Mduduzi Shabalala and Thatayoane Ditlhokwe are at risk of suspension with three yellow cards each to their name.
SuperSport United Current Form – DLLWL
While SuperSport United found some reprieve in their cup encounter at the end of January with a 1-0 win over newly promoted side Magesi, their domestic league campaign is at risk of demotion should results not turn in their favour.
Matsatsantsa have secured just one point, a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United last matchday, since the turn of the calendar year. Even more concerning for coach Gavin Hunt, a mere two wins in their last 10 league appearances, both narrow 1-0 victories, means the once Champions of the league under the same coach many moons ago, could face relegation – 12th and six points above the drop zone.

- Nyiko Mobbie: The 30-year-old has not let his quality drop since joining from Mamelodi Sundowns, featuring in all 17 league fixtures for SuperSport, the right-back brings heaps of assurance to a struggling backline.
- Brooklyn Poggenpoel: If his midfield partnership could find better space to receive the ball, he could shine in most matches.
- Christian Saile: One thing SuperSport lack this season are goals, scoring just seven in 17 fixtures, and one of those come from new acquisition Saile – a former Kaizer Chiefs player ready to prove a point to his former employers.

Long-term injury for forward Bradley Grobler can take some of the blame for a lack of quality in the final third, while key midfielder Grant Margeman is also sidelined with an ACL injury. On the other hand, Hunt will be delighted with the return from injury of Terrence Dzvukamanja who got some minutes under his belt in the 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune.
