Getafe are determined to keep hold of Nigerian forward Chrisantus Uche ahead of next season, despite growing interest from the Premier League, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old endured a difficult loan spell at Crystal Palace, where he struggled for regular opportunities and spent much of the campaign on the fringes of the first team.

However, the Spanish side are now ready to welcome him back and reintegrate him into José Bordalás’ plans.

Bordalás, who signed Uche from lower league side Ceuta in 2024 and helped transform him into one of La Liga’s emerging attacking talents, has made it clear he does not want to lose the Nigerian again this summer.

SportsBoom understands Everton and Newcastle United are both monitoring the situation and could test Getafe’s resolve with offers in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, sources indicate the Azulones currently view Uche as a key figure for next season and are reluctant to sanction another temporary exit.

Uche managed just 159 minutes of Premier League football during his time at Palace and is believed to have fallen out of favour under outgoing manager Oliver Glasner. His lack of league starts also meant the mandatory €15 million purchase clause included in the loan agreement was not activated.

Reunion With Getafe On The Cards

SportsBoom understands Bordalás was never fully convinced about allowing Uche to leave in the first place, considering the forward an essential component of his squad.

While the Getafe boss appreciates the club’s financial realities, he has reportedly stressed to the board the importance of remaining competitive, particularly with European qualification within reach.

Getafe have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 31 times in La Liga, the lowest tally in the division, and Bordalás sees Uche as a player capable of adding much-needed creativity and attacking threat.

During his previous spell with the club, Uche made 41 appearances and registered 13 goal contributions, scoring five goals and providing eight assists.
