Honestly, the Candyland theme with sprinkles and icing above the grid is just a fun backdrop more than a storyline, but it complements the gameplay nicely. The colours and symbols feel happy and less intimidating, which is a nice change of pace for me.

Sugar Rush is set on a large 7x7 grid. Instead of traditional paylines, it runs with the infamous Cluster Pays mechanic, which pays for five or more identical symbols connected horizontally or vertically. 
Your winning symbols disappear after a win, and the Tumble Feature kicks in, so new symbols drop down for continuous wins on a single spin.

The theoretical RTP is a very respectable 96.50%. This is above average, but be warned: the game is rated highly volatile. This means you need patience and a deep bankroll to absorb the long stretches between wins, but when those wins hit, they have the potential to be truly massive – my preferred style of play

The maximum win is capped at 5,000x your stake, but it’s rare, like any winning cap, and only happens during the Free Spins. The game rules confirm that once you hit 5,000x, the round immediately ends, even if you have remaining free spins, but you can technically land another max win in the same session.

There is no progressive jackpot, but SA players still get some added value beyond the max win through network promotions. 
Sugar Rush is included in Pragmatic Play's global Drops & Wins tournaments, which offer random cash prizes. For example, there’s a daily tournament at Betway with a top prize of R60,000. 

There aren’t any Wilds to substitute for other symbols, so the only “special” symbol is the Rocket Gumball Machine Scatter. It appears on all reels, and you need to land 3 to 7 of them anywhere on the grid to get up to 30 free spins. 

This feature makes the already-big 7x7 grid dynamic. After a win, the winning symbols vanish, and the remaining symbols cascade down to fill the gaps. Then new symbols drop in from the top to take up the empty spaces, which makes it entirely possible to land multiple line payouts on a single bet.

Multiplier Spots Feature

Winning symbols mark their spot with a multiplier embedded into the grid behind the new symbols that follow. If another symbol explodes in that same multiplier spot, a 2x multiplier is activated. 
That multiplier then doubles with every win on the same spot and grows up to 128x. They reset during the base game after a tumbling sequence ends, though.

You need 3 to 7 scatters to trigger up to 30 spins. The multiplier spots do not reset between spins but instead remain sticky and accumulate as long as you have free spins available. This is the only way to get to the 5,000x max win.
