The Centurion-based Titans are after the Proteas' newly found star, teenage fast bowling sensation Nqobani Mokoena, looking to bring the 19-year-old up to the Highveld from the coastal domestic team, the Dolphins.
What has Mokoena done?
Mokoena has taken the world by storm this season, with the right-arm fast bowler impressing many with sheer pace and skill.
His most impressive stint this season has been with the Paarl Royals, where, playing alongside Proteas star and Paarl Royals captain David Miller, he managed to pick up 13 wickets in the tournament.
The youngster also showcased his tenacity and hunger for high-pressure moments when Miller handed him the ball during the first power play of the game and during the death overs of the match.
Despite playing against some of the world's best batters in the SA20, Mokoena still delivered, a feat that saw him get his maiden international call-up for the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand in New Zealand.
The youngster has played three matches thus far, taking a three-for on his debut, winning the Player of the Match award in his maiden international fixture.
Transfer News
Because of the promise that the youngster has shown, SportsBoom.co.za has learned that one of South Africa's most successful teams, the Titans, has shown interest in securing his signature.
However, it will be a mission to secure the youngster's signature, given that his current team, the Dolphins, have shown a lot of faith in his talents and handed him his first big break.
Dolphins head coach Quinton Friend was a fast bowler during his playing days and seems to have created a very healthy environment for up-and-coming fast bowlers over in Durban, as he has the likes of Okuhle Cele and Eathan Bosch in his ranks.
For a youngster such as Mokoena, the Dolphins' environment could be just what he needs for his development.
As a result, SportsBoom understands that the Titans have hit a brick wall in their pursuit of the youngster, as the young fast bowler seems adamant to remain in Durban and repay the faith shown to him by Friend and the entire Dolphins coaching staff.
