Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi is facing an uncertain future at the club, with his representatives confirming that discussions regarding his future have been placed on hold for now.
Despite enjoying one of their most promising campaigns in recent years, Amakhosi are dealing with uncertainty surrounding several key players, with a number of contracts set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Among those in a similar position to Mmodi are defender Dillan Solomons, goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa, as well as Gaston Sirino.
Having featured in 25 matches across all competitions, registering one goal and one assist, Mmodi remains under contract at Chiefs, although his long-term future remains unresolved.
Agent Talks
His representatives told SportsBoom that the immediate focus is on improving his performances before any decisions are made.
“Currently he is still contracted to Chiefs so right now we cannot say anything,” Future Sports Management agent Parable Hlatshwayo told Sportsboom.co.za.
“There were talks, but they were paused because he is currently concentrated on the team, so right now, he belongs to Kaizer Chiefs."
"He belongs to Chiefs until the last day of the season, and that is only when we will confirm where he is headed.”
While there has been ongoing speculation about his future, his camp has stressed that no immediate decisions will be taken, although they have not ruled out the possibility of a move elsewhere.
“If there are some other teams that are interested in him, then the door is open, but currently he is still a Kaizer Chiefs player.”
The decision to pause negotiations follows internal discussions, with all parties opting to allow the player to focus fully on his performances during a crucial stage of the campaign.
Uncertainty also remains around the club’s technical setup, with the co-coaching duo of Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef still awaiting clarity on their futures.
As a result, Mmodi and several teammates nearing the end of their contracts could see their situations influenced by the club’s next managerial appointment.
For the 33-year-old, however, a lack of consistent game time and form this season remains a key concern, particularly after enjoying more productive spells in previous campaigns with the club.
“We had conversations with the club, but we decided to let him concentrate on the team currently because we know what was happening previously, so let him focus on his game, and the rest will take care of itself," he concluded.
