Following his historic EFL League One debut back in May, 16-year-old Micah Olabiyi has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League clubs.

Ipswich Town, Brentford, and Championship new-boys Wolverhampton Wanderers are courting Olabiyi for his maiden professional contract before his 17th birthday on July 17.

Olabiyi announced himself to English football in August when he came off the bench to play against Bromley in the Carabao Cup second round.

On May 2, the young Nigerian made an unforgettable League One debut by coming off the bench in the final 10 minutes of the game against Rotherham United, and he scored the match-winning goal that sealed a 3-2 win for Wycombe.

SportsBoom understands that Wycombe have submitted an improved professional offer to Olabiyi’s entourage to keep him at the club by the time he turns 17.

However, they face stern competition from rivals like Ipswich, Brentford and Wolves, who are keen on nurturing his talent with more exposure, leaving the youngster with options to pick from.

Olabiyi may not be the only young Nigerian talent heading to the Premier League this summer, with Brighton reportedly closing in on AIK Stockholm star Zadok Yohanna as part of their ongoing recruitment drive.

OLABIYI DRAWS SUPER EAGLES ATTENTION

The teenage sensation took a major career leap in late May as he was invited by Nigeria coach Eric Chelle for his team’s training during the 2026 Unity Cup at Charlton.

Olabiyi joined the Super Eagles attack led by Porto striker Terem Moffi, Millwall winger Femi Azeez and Plymouth's Owen Oseni in preparing for the Unity Cup final game against Jamaica.

He was a delight to watch, and he has been described as one for the future by some technical staff of the Super Eagles.

Chelle’s invitation to Olabiyi is considered a strategic move to lure the young winger, who is also eligible to play for England, having recently joined the English youth team for a training session.

Wycombe have put forward an improved deal and remain confident of keeping Micah Olabiyi, but Premier League interest from Ipswich, Brentford and Wolves makes it a tough fight. At this stage, we still slightly lean towards a summer exit unless guarantees on first-team minutes are firmly in place.
