Oswin Appollis' agent, Glyn Binkin, has downplayed rumoured transfer news associated with the player, citing that the forward is committed to Orlando Pirates.

Binkin further added that Orlando Pirates right-back Deano van Rooyen will also remain in Orlando until June 2027 with an option to extend.

Oswin Appollis

The country is building toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the announcement of the Bafana Bafana 26-player squad in Pretoria last week.

Coach Hugo Broos was joined by the President himself, Cyril Ramaphosa, as the announcement of the squad was aired on live television all over the country, celebrating the 26-players who will have the honour to represent South Africa on the big stage.

Among the 26 players is Orlando Pirates forward Appollis, who, alongside fellow Orlando Pirates teammate Relebohile Mofokeng, has been swamped with rumours of potential moves to Europe in the near future.

Purely based on their talents, many would not be surprised if the rumours would ultimately materialise. Even Bafana coach Broos praised the Bafana forwards, citing that the talent is enough for a career abroad.

With the pair set to play in the FIFA World Cup in Mexico and the United States of America this month, where scouts from some of the best clubs in the world will be in attendance, they may continue to attract interest from European countries.

Already, South African talent is highly sought after around the world, with youngster Mbekezeli Mbokazi being a prime example following his transfer to Chicago Fire in America's Major League Soccer.

Despite the excitement of the prospect of Appollis potentially rubbing shoulders with some of the best players in the world at some European club, his agent has reiterated that the youngster remains committed to the current Betway Premiership champions, Orlando Pirates.

“Oswin is focused on the World Cup and remains under contract to Pirates,” Binkin told SportsBoom.co.za in an exclusive interview.

“So, any interested parties will need to engage with Pirates, but as I say, Oswin is very focused only on the World Cup at this stage," he added.

Tshegofatso Mabasa

Former League golden boot winner Tshegofatso Mabasa has been making headlines this season, with the striker associated with multiple rumoured transfers throughout the season.

Following his loan spell from Orlando Pirates to Stellenbosch FC, SportsBoom.co.za understands that the striker is less likely to return to Orlando Pirates.

SportsBoom can report that the striker will not be staying at Stellenbosch FC either, despite there being rumours that Mabasa would give a preference to a Stellenbosch FC offer before other clubs.

It remains to be seen where the striker would eventually go, as his Orlando Pirates contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

Deano Van Rooyen

This season, several Orlando Pirates players were rumoured to make surprise transfers, including defender Deano van Rooyen.

Van Rooyen moved to the Buccaneers from Stellies about two years ago as an exciting right-back, a move which saw him establish a spot in one of the country’s top clubs.

With squad competition rising under new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, many believed the writing was on the wall for the 29-year-old.

However, his manager Binkin further reiterated that the defender’s contract runs until June 2027 with options to extend thereafter.

“Deano van Rooyen is still under contract to Pirates until 30 June 2027,” Binkin told SportsBoom.co.za.

“(There are) options to extend thereafter," he concluded.

Agent comments like this usually cool immediate transfer speculation, but they rarely shut the door long-term, especially with Appollis heading into a World Cup where his value could spike. If he delivers on that stage, the European interest won’t just grow, it’ll intensify quickly. From a betting perspective, any standout tournament performance could shorten odds on a summer move, even if Pirates remain firm for now.
