Cape Town City FC and Bafana Bafana forward Keagan Dolly is likely to return to Kaizer Chiefs at the conclusion of the ongoing 2025/26 domestic season.
Dolly to Chiefs?
SportsBoom.co.za has learned that former Kaizer Chiefs captain Keagan Dolly is likely to return to Naturena next season, to bolster the team's ambitious turnaround.
Dolly spent three seasons in the gold and black colours of Kaizer Chiefs between July 2021 and June 2024, where he carved a big name for himself.
During those three seasons, Dolly managed to become the highest earning footballer in the country, as he became an important figure for the Soweto Giants.
For a host of different reasons, including pressure and lack of consistency in the latter stages of his time with Kaizer Chiefs, Dolly would part ways and join TS Galaxy.
However, almost two years later, Dolly could make his way back to Naturena, to influence what Kaizer Chiefs hopes to be the revival of their golden days.
Given their recent success in the league, where, at the time of writing of this article, they are placed third in the league, Dolly could add even more value next season.
Dolly's Leadership
Though Dolly was never the permanent captain at Kaizer Chiefs, as Itumeleng Khune and later Yusuf Maart assumed the role during his time in Naturena, Dolly served as vice-captain and was often handed the captain's armband when Khune was not in the starting line-up.
In total, Dolly captained 21 matches for Kaizer Chiefs, a feat that demonstrated the leadership qualities that he showed on and off the field.
Having tasted the pressure that comes with being among the leadership group of players for Kaizer Chiefs, Dolly brings a wealth of experience, a feat that Soweto Giants could use, given the youthful nature of the squad with the likes of the promising young Mfundo Vilakazi.
Desire To Give Back
In recent interviews, Dolly has been vocal about his desire to give back to South African football, and is there a better way to do so than to lead the long-awaited revival of the Soweto Giants?
Currently, the 33-year-old applies his trade at Cape Town City FC, where he rubs shoulders with youngsters of the likes of Emile Witbooi. With Dolly to guide the likes of Witbooi, the youngsters are in good hands.
Dolly's commitment to giving back to South African football goes deep as he captained Bafana Bafana during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which took place in August 2025 with coach Molefi Ntseki at the helm.
City Contract
In August 2025, Dolly signed a one-year deal with the option to extend with Cape Town City, which means that the experienced player could well be available to join Kaizer Chiefs for the 2026/27 season.
Should all the stars align, Dolly will don the gold and black colours of Kaizer Chiefs next season.
